Mary has utilized Family Narrative Attachment Therapy (developed by Joanne C. May) to help adopted children decrease the power of traumatic pasts and move forward with purpose and hope. Family Narrative Attachment Therapy is a specialized form of storytelling that emphasizes strengthening attachment between the adopted child and the parents.
Mary is passionate in helping couples learn healthy habits and patterns in communication and conflict resolution. In couples' therapy, partners will learn how core personality differences, family-of-origin patterns, and emotional wiring affect their respect and understanding of the other. Individuals challenged with depression, anxiety, other mood disorders, grief and loss, co-dependency, life transition and family-of-origin issues, can receive practical tools and hope through cognitive-behavior therapy, solution-focused therapy, family systems work, narrative therapy and psycho-education at Family Help Counseling. Referrals to local psychiatrists can be recommended for medication assessment on a case-by-case basis.
